It seems when ever I am browsing internet are reading what people are saying about healthcare reform I run in to way too many article that claim that group plans are cheaper. I just read an article on "9 Ways on How to Save Money on Your Health Insurance". In that article it said that if you have some sort of business and you get a small group plans you will end up paying less for your health insurance. The person who wrote that article obviously has no clue about health insurance industry. Group plans are never cheaper then individual health insurance. The most obvious reason is that in all 50 state group plans by law must be guaranteed issue. What that means is that everyone is accepted in to the group plans no matter what is they medical history. You need hart transplant sure you are accepted, you have cancer, need chemo therapy sure, you get health insurance. Now how would that make sense if the insurance companies charged less for those plan. The reality of it is that it does not make any sense. Individual health plans are cheaper because you HAVE to qualify medically. That means you are a good risk for insurance companies therefore you will be charged less for your health insurance. You can get a quote right now and compare, online it takes minutes to compare. Instead of reading worthless information online ask insurance agent to give you proposal side by side. (insurance agent cost you nothing, they get paid by insurance companies). The only possibility is when you might get a lower rate through group plan then individual is when you have a group of 10,000 employees or members and 98% plus are in great health.
