they need to make informed, effective health care choices. That’s why we’ve developed
Anthem Care Comparison, a tool to make helpful information available to our members.
What is Anthem Care Comparison?
Anthem Care Comparison is an innovative comparison tool that discloses real price ranges
for common services at specified area facilities (including the facility, professional and
ancillary services). The price ranges include not only the surgery itself, but a bundle of
related services typically performed at the time of the procedure. The Anthem Care
Comparison tool includes information for 39 total medical procedures and common office
visits.
Price information is based on average professional/ancillary fees as well as agreements
between Anthem Blue Cross and each network facility. Frequency data is supplied by the
individual facilities and includes their volume for all payers. This program will not affect the
provider’s contractual status with Anthem. Price is one factor that a member can use to
select a facility for services. Because Anthem Blue Cross provides this information on
price, it allows the member to participate in the overall decision of their care.
