Answer

You can always get individual health insurance ever if you are eligible for group coverage. In most companies there is a participations requirement that means that certain percentage of the employees must enroll in a health plan in order to establish company group plan. If you decide that you do not want to enroll in to a company group plan you have to have a valid reason. Getting individual coverage on your own in most cases is not a valid reason for declining group plan.
