Anthem Blue Cross and Individual Practice Association Medical Group of Santa Clara County to Form First ACO for PPO Members

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., and FOSTER CITY, Calif. —August 10, 2011— Anthem Blue Cross and Individual Practice Association Medical Group of Santa Clara County (SCCIPA), today announced they are launching an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program to provide coordinated, seamless medical care to Anthem PPO members in the Silicon Valley. The ACO is the first of its kind in Northern California, and includes a direct contract agreement between Anthem and the IPA.

Anthem Blue Cross have finally received partial approval on their Health Care Reform plans and we are excited to introduce 11 new Individual products, available to today. These familiar plan designs are compliant with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) mandated benefits and continue to offer you a broad choice of coverage to help you meet your needs. These plans supplement Anthem Blue Cross's PPO Share 3500 and 7500 and HMO plans that were previously approved. Anthem Blue Cross accepts paper applications (mailed, faxed or e-mailed) right away.

Anthem Blue Cross just have release tow new plans to combat current rate increases. If you were part of the recent rate increase with Anthem Blue Cross then you can switch to one of the new health plans and avoid recent rate increase. Leslie A. Margolin Named President of Blue Cross of California

WellPoint, Inc. today announced that Brian A. Sassi has been appointed president and chief executive officer of the company's Consumer Business Unit, which includes the Individual, Senior and State Sponsored (Medicaid) customer segments. Sassi, formerly president of Blue Cross of California, replaces Joan Herman, who announced her plans last year to retire in 2008. Sassi will begin transitioning into his new role immediately and assume full responsibility on February 1.
