What is the health insurance options for student outside of California?

What do you recommend as an additional policy for my son who is a student at college in Arkansas and the family health insurance covers only 1 emergency room visit per accident out of California? Arkansas BlueCross BlueShield seems to want to insure only residents of Arkansas. He has coverage in Arkansas for college sport-related medical needs through the NCAA, and basic health care free at the Student Wellness and Health Center.

Answer

Unfortunately Blue Cross of California does not cover students outside of California. You can always get a health insurance plan individual for a student that will cover Nationwide and some even cover worldwide. One of the insurance companies that covers students Nationwide is Assurant health. Getting a separate policy for one of the family members and keep the rest of the family on the same plan. Taking some one of the plans it really simple with Blue Cross. If for some reason you beside to add your son back on Blue Cross of California you can always do that.
